"Born in the U.S.A."

We are on our way home! Yesterday at 9a.m. my cute husband called and asked if I could pack the family within 48 hours... the answer, of course, was "No, are you crazy?" - so, I have a little more time than that. But, the long and short of it is that I am organizing giving our precious feline friend, Suess, away; donating school uniforms; calling friends for items they want to keep and packing all at once! We'll be coming home with 12 suitcases...

Our little family lasted through drug search and seizure raids in our own neighborhood run by the Mexican military; rumors of drug wars; evidence of drug wars - and now a microscopic germ is sending us packing - literally! I have shed tears upon tears - due to this situation we cannot even physically say goodbye to these beautiful, wonderful people we have grown to love!

My only hope is to hitch a flight back with my cute husband's business trips when the epidemic clears and finally say 'adios y les queremos muchisimo'!

Hi, I read your message, and I get more sad. It was happy and sad to see you today, I know that our friendship will last forever, but we`ll not see frequently.

I put the bags in the back of the van and I think that Laura`s and Julio`s sons will receive the clothes so happily, also I think of Miss Silvia`s son, when we go back to School I`ll contact them first, is a lot of stuff.
Thanks so much for the baby clothes and Hanna`s lunch box, AnaSo will love it.

We`ll see you soon, and I promise that we`ll go to Texas.
If you need extra hands, please tell me ok.

I am crying for you...I know how much you all have loved making new friends and having cherished your adventures, time there etc....what a great experience it has been for you all --and even tho that teeny germ is causing havoc, it cannot take away all the precious memories you bring home with you! Yes, indeed a trip back down when all is cleared would be great and seems very likely! We are so happy you are on your way home for many reasons but we do know it's a bittersweet time!

I'm sad for you that you will be leaving under such circumstances, but am grateful that you and your little family will be back in the US. Not sure what means of transportation you are using to come back, but we (Ed and I) are praying that you will be safe and healthy.

Maybe after all this flu epidemic is over you can take a vacation back to say "goodbye" to everyone. No doubt Mexico will always hold a special place in your hearts.

We will continue to hold your family in our prayers.

Love Ya...Leslie

It's truly sad that your time in Mexico is coming to an end in such an abrupt fashion. I remember similar feelings during the last 1-2 days of my mission in Venezuela when I wanted to say good-bye to so many but didn't have time.

I'm sure you'll have the opportunity to get back, and we're fortunate enough to live in an era of Skype, e-mail, and blogs to keep in touch. (I, unfortunately, don't have that communication with the people I knew 10 years ago in South America.)

Be safe and careful with packing and traveling. We'll be excited to see you back in the USA!

What a mix of emotions for you! You are excited to be going home, and yet not expecting to do so as suddenly and urgently as you are.
I hope you can all adjust amoothly to the changes!

It is so good to see your update. I have been very worried about your family the last few days. I was telling Kent last night that my worrying will only stop when you guys are back on US soil. Miss you guys. The kiddos are going to have lots of stories to tell for many years to come.

I've been thinking about you! It's always sad to leave a place you've grown to love!

Good luck with packing everything. I don't miss that part. :)

I was in China when SARS was rampant. These pictures look all too familiar.

Love,
Emily

What a difficult way to say goodbye! I guess in some ways it is nice to be so busy that the sadness doesn't overwhelm you.

K can't wait to see E. She about died after school when she saw you would be here Saturday and then really died when E emailed her again saying it would be Wednesday. This is such a blessing for her, as she has been dealing with so much.

We can't wait to see you....just whenever you are settled enough to come see us or us you, give us a call!

I'm glad we all followed our feelings regarding our proposed visit. I hope all is well. We sure do love you guys. I had a great trip to Casas Grandes/Colonia Juarez. The clinic ran well. We were able to help get a lot of people out of pain, including many Mennonites. We worked hard, and unfortunately had little time to enjoy Mexico. The temple in Colonia Juarez is beautiful.

Irasema and I want to say thanks for all the support that you provided us in the church and all the things that we learned from you with your example and experience in how to work with our Celestial Father.

I think we will miss you, and even the language did not help us, I remember very well all the things that we do in the church (When we went to the stadium, when the 10 virgins representation, and other funny things)

We just want to say have a good return to USA, and remember that here in Qro all of you has one place where you can eat at least frijoles :)

GOD Bless you.

Best Regards
æ JAG

Saludos Familia:
