Wonderwoman, Superwoman... a.k.a. Mother

I have recently realized that Motherhood is nothing less than leaping tall buildings in single bounds and saving your own little universe!

With a wonderful husband off at work - and most of the time he is seriously away (both mentally and physically) - I am the cook, maid, taxi driver, entertainer, referee, consoler, nurse, pillow, teacher, tutor, IT help desk, HR human inter-relationship specialist, dance instructor, singer of lullabies, reader of books and more! All of this constitutes being a mother!

So, wonderwoman had her lasso of truth and superwoman can fly - but, could either of them top the tremendous capacity of a mother? I think not!

When did you realize your greatness as a mother? How did it affect you and your children? I'd love to know...

Love the fun new look of your blog!!

To answer your question, I'm still learning it! But I remember one day in particular that I had a lot to do on my plate and was a very new mother of two. I remember kneeling down to Heavenly Father and saying, "Listen. I don't have a lot of time but I need your help. I've got to be Wonder Woman today. Nothing less than She-Ra. I have to get all these things and I there is no way I can do it alone..." I stood up from that prayer and I felt power inside. I thought I could do all those crazy things I had to do that day...and I did. It was that day that I realized, I am not only powerful because I am genetic offspring from God and follow his principles, but also because he will send his angels to give me even extra powers! He has extended my days, quickened my efficiency, and blessed my efforts - just because I asked. If that isn't power, I don't know what is! I am only Superwoman through Him.

Love you, Andrea! Can't wait to see you soon.

In my disappointment with what has been happening with Washington lately, I fortunately rediscovered this quote: "When the real history of mankind is fully disclosed, will it feature the . . . great armistices made by military men or the peacemaking of women in homes and in neighborhoods? Will what happened in cradles and kitchens prove to be more controlling than what happened IN CONGRESS?"

-- Elder Neal A. Maxwell

To this day I'm still not sure I am a great mother, but I know that I'm a good mother.
They say behind every great man there is a woman...for me, there is a great man only, he is by my side.
Unlike you and Jimmy, Gio is around a lot, even more now since he was laid off last month, however, I realized my importance as a mother at the birth of our children. As time has passed I have tried to do all I can to be there for my boys and I think I have done a good job.
My last realization that I have done okay as a mother came at Robert's missionary farewell. When all of his friends were there (200+ extra at our sacrament meeting) I realized that Gio and I both must have done something right.
Now we are trying to do the same with Brian...
Hope you all are well...when you come to Utah again let us know, we would love to see you!
And you both are great! I saw that when I met your sweet little family. Your children are wonderful, just like their parents!
